I hate Christmas, I mean there's some elements to it that I love, like bringing the family together. But money, Giving, Receiving. All of those factors piss me right off. I will now tell you why, so stop reading, get a cup of tea or hot chocolate, a packet of crisps or a piece of fruit and get comfortable.
Let's start off with money. So on my boyfriend I have spent £47.54 if you think about it that's ridiculous. I'm sure many people have told you about how you should always eat all your food because the poor kids in Africa don't get food and water like you. And I'm afraid I'm going to have to use that as an example. Not only in Africa, but all across the world there are many kids, teens and adults who don't have enough money to buy basic necessities. Put it this way 21, 000 people are dying every day due to hunger or hunger related causes. That is one person every 4 seconds. This is all because so many people are born into poverty. But do you know why that is? Have you even thought about it? Probably not. I can't say much myself about it because I've not looked into much before this.
A baby gets born into this nasty cycle because the parents couldn't afford contraception. Because the mother has to look after the newborn she is unable to work, so the father has to work extra shifts to make enough money to buy the basics for the mother, baby and not forgetting himself. The baby gets enough food to keep it going. The parents are struggling. Money is running low and there's an illness going around. The whole family catches it. They all become very ill meaning they can't work as much meaning they don't get enough money leading them not to have enough food to eat. This then means that the whole family is constantly malnourished. This can only lead to death as they can't pay for medication due to them having no money.
£47.50 may not seem much to us but to people who live in less developed countries it would mean everything to them. So whilst people who are dying of starvation in poor countries, I'm going round buying jack wills boxers, Xbox gift card, a box of chocolates and the film frozen.
That got really deep really quickly and I apologise for that, it kind of went of topic but hey ho.
The other two factors are giving and receiving. It's pretty simple. If you don't like a present you're given you have to pretend you like it. If you give someone a present you're scared they're not gonna like it. Things like that stress me out and I just can't be dealing with it.
That's pretty much why I hate Christmas. So I hope you enjoy reading that, because who doesn't love someone complaining about Christmas..
